AA extends O2 contract

The AA has extended and expanded its mobile services contract with O2. The new deal will run until 2013.

Under the contract, O2 provides mobile service for all AA employees, including voice, data, and Blackberry smartphone connections.

In addition, O2 will now provide bespoke mobile and data systems, consultancy services, and voice and data audits.

O2 will work to identify and correct problems to optimise serives.

AA head of motoring technologies, Chris Bailey, said: “O2 has proven that it can provide us with a flexible solution across a range of devices, and its commitment to helping us drive efficiencies and effectively manage such an intrinsic part of our business has shown it to be the right partner for us.”

O2 head of business, Ben Dowd, said: “The AA is a highly valued customer and we are delighted to be working with them for another five years.

“This re-sign proves the success of the partnership to date, and we are looking forward to building upon this by further increasing connections and creating new revenue streams.”

In related news, O2 secured a contract with financial services group SAGA, providing around 1,000 new connections.

SAGA’s service was previously provided by Vodafone.

Dowd said: “Not only have we gained a valuable new customer in what is an extremely competitive market but we have won yet another contract from Vodafone.

“We are excellently placed to continue to win important customers from our rivals.”
